 Dear Victory
Youth Center supporter and friends of Katie Fitzgerald,
  I am writing to you
about a special endeavor that has become very important to me
and will become important to you after you hear about it. A beautiful new gymnasium/field
house opened in September 2001 on the campus of Mary of Nazareth
School in Darnestown MD. The project is sponsored and chaired
by Mr. Gregg Dyer, Mike Ridgway and Father John Enzler. Our gymnasium doesn’t
have a name yet, but how does the “Katie Fitzgerald Center”
sound to you? What a gift it would be to her memory and her family,
to name the building after such a bright, and athletic young woman,
who was taken from us so suddenly and tragically. Katie lived
very near the site of the new facility, and was committed to sports
and athletics all her young life. She is a symbol for other young
people to cultivate a zest for life and love for athletics that
will make a huge difference in the quality of their lives. We are trying to raise
$700,000 in Katie’s name. I am asking in the best way I
know how, by asking friends and supporters of Father John and
the Fitzgerald’s for their assistance. We need you to be
the leader for others to follow. I am hoping to find contributions
                in the following ways: two $100,000 gifts, payable over 2 years;
six $10,000 gifts paid in one or two installments; and 50 gifts
of $5,000 each. I am hoping this personal appeal will generate
these contributions. A gift in Katie’s name would be a gift
not only to her memory, but also to the Fitzgerald family, the
young people of Montgomery County and to youth athletics. In the belief that
many of you are interested in supporting this effort, In the last
couple of weeks Father John has had contact with five or six people
who know the Fitzgeralds, at least incidentally, and who each
have promised a substantial gift. We want you to be a major part
of this very special endeavor to name Victory Youth Center in
Darnestown for Katie Fitz. In conclusion of this
fundraising effort, there will be a celebration and dedication
ceremony on December 6th 2003 at the Darnestown Victory Youth
Center. This gala celebration will be our way to say thank you
for you generous contributions and to celebrate the successful
conclusion of this extremely worthy venture. On behalf of Katie,
her family and the young athletes of Montgomery County, I offer
my sincere thanks, Sincerely, S. Raschid Muller
